Why Clean a Roof?

Jul 27, 2012

Perhaps the most damaging and least recognized types of roof debris are molds, mildews, lichens and fungus, and can lead to costly repairs or even roof replacement. If your shingles, shakes, tiles, built-up, modified bitumen, single-ply or foam roofing shows a green in color, or green or black splotches, that is a sign that your roof has developed mold and mildew and it is probably time to have it cleaned.

Green Roofing

Apr 27, 2012

Technically speaking, the term green roofing applies to flattop roofs in urban settings that have been turned into gardens and elevated parks. It is not unusual for green spaces to become gardens, producing vegetables, edible plants and even sustaining small fruit trees. Green roofing takes neglected space and makes it useful. Such parks and gardens provide fantastic insulation from heat and cold, as well as help reduce the problem of urban heating and heat islands.

Impact Resistant Roofing

What is R Value

Jan 27, 2012

Simply put, R-value is the measure of a material’s resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the better the material insulates. R-value is particularly important when considering what types of material to select for your roof since increasing the thickness of an insulating layer produces more thermal resistance.
