Life can be strange and unusual, and weird things can happen. The roofing industry is no exception. Here are few weird and unusual tales we just had to share.

Mistaken Identity
In North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, a roofing project was started … on the wrong building! Apparently, the roofers started the project on Labor Day, realized their error and then vanished without a trace. While authorities don’t believe this was deliberate vandalism, they are now asking anyone who might have seen anything to come forward.

The Case of the Missing Roofing Materials
The Home Depot and Lowe’s stores in the Jefferson Parish of Louisiana were a bit baffled and getting very suspicious of three men who began returning roofing supplies, saying the projects had been canceled. As it turned out, the three men were stealing the roofing supplies from constructions sites and returning them to the stores for the money. All three men have now been caught and are awaiting trial.

Gutter Gone Wrong
In Maryland, high winds caused a section of guttering to detach from an apartment building. The gutter fell onto a power line and sparked a fire, which engulfed 42 apartments in the complex. Although many were displaced by the blaze, no injuries were reported.

Bad Birdie
At a home in North Phoenix, the homeowner insists on feeding the birds. This has attracted a flock of around 200 pigeons that live on the roof, apparently enjoying the warmth of the asphalt shingles and the nearness of their food supply. At times, it looks a lot like an Alfred Hitchcock movie! In the past year, the homeowner has replaced the roof twice, particularly over the patio. During the most recent Monsoon rains in September, we watched the homeowners climb the roof with a bucket of tar to stop a leak. We suspect yet another roofing project is on the offing for this homeowner! The lesson, don’t feed the birds!!!
